"It only takes six weeks and one foreign language for the average person to figure out that life overseas is not for the faint of heart." Quentin Somerfield.
You may be thinking, 'who are we to talk?' Well, we also were new to France a few years ago, so, we know how you feel, but the difference is, now, we also now know how to help YOU!
I moved to Nantes in 2004 and didn't know anyone I also didn't speak French very well.. I searched the web for things to do, places to go and people to meet (preferably speaking English) but got directed to general expats' web sites, which, although very useful for the new-comer to France, told me nothing about how to settle into Nantes specifically. Thank goodness my husband speaks English & French fluently. He was my mouth, my eyes and my ears for the first few months.
Here I am 4 years later, I have made France my home - there's no going back. But I still miss my old friends, and of course my family.
I have now settled into work now too, with my own small business, lots of teaching work in design and marketing and a great social network, thanks to the social network, Knowing Nantes (www.knowing-nantes.moonfruit.com) I set up in 2002.
It is through the development of this social network that I came to meet so many talented people working to build a new life here in France. I also noticed that many of them, like myself, need help in many aspects of their business. This is my reason for developing KNB to give them the opportunity to develop and nurture their businesses with the help of others.

I recently joined KNB and became aware of the value of the network for both me personally and my business.
I am sure that this network will help many people, especially women, living or moving to France who intend to work or set up in business.
